Our Sleeping Beauty and Heishi Santo Domingo Necklace is a true museum-quality treasure, crafted with rare Sleeping Beauty turquoise and traditional Heishi beads. Sleeping Beauty turquoise, once mined in Globe, Arizona, is one of the most sought-after stones in the world, celebrated for its vibrant sky-blue hue. Since the mine has closed, this turquoise is no longer available, making every piece that features it rare and highly collectible. Our artisan has stock piled this turquoise and has made this necklace from her personal "stash" of Sleeping Beauty turquoise. It is hard to find stones this big anymore! Jean Marie our founder convinced her to make this heirloom piece just for us!

This specific gifted female Santo Domingo artisan's work is regarded at museum level for its precision and artistry. She painstakingly cuts, polishes, and shapes every bead by hand, carrying forward the skills passed down from her mother and grandmother, and now teaching her own daughter who helped bring this piece to life. Each necklace is infused with the soul of three generations of women, making it far more than jewelry—it is heritage, memory, and continuity woven into stone.

The inclusion of Heishi beads, among the oldest forms of jewelry-making in North America, ties this necklace to a tradition stretching back thousands of years. Each disc-shaped bead must be hand-drilled and strung with care, requiring tremendous patience and mastery.
