Our Frida Floral Lounge Pants celebrate brilliant color, extraordinary comfort, and the centuries-old Indian art of hand block printing. Block printed by hand in India on exceptionally soft, lightweight cotton, our Frida Floral bursts with exuberant flowers in shades of coral, orange and red surrounded by leafy greens. It is a joyful print with exactly the sort of fearless approach to color that inspired its name.

Jean Marie named our Frida Floral in homage to the incomparable Frida Kahlo, whose extraordinary paintings, personal style, and love of vivid color have fascinated generations. We like to imagine that Frida herself might have happily lounged around in these wonderfully colorful pants—and then worn them straight out of the house.

Creating our Frida Floral fabric is an artisan process. Skilled woodblock carvers create the intricately detailed wooden blocks used to form the flowers and leaves, and printers repeatedly position and press these blocks onto the cotton by hand, gradually building the pattern across the cloth. The process relies upon the practiced eye and touch of the artisan rather than the mechanical precision of a machine. Subtle variations are part of the beauty of block printing by hand, giving every pair its own individual character.

And these really are pants to live in. The relaxed, wide-leg silhouette and soft cotton make them wonderfully comfortable for lounging at home, but they are far too beautiful to stay there. Wear them with a simple shirt or tank and sandals for lunch, shopping, travel, or an evening out; pull them over a swimsuit for the beach or pool; or simply curl up in them at home. Side pockets make them even more practical.

The adjustable drawstring waist is finished with exuberant handmade red tassels embellished with tiny beads, another wonderful artisan detail that echoes the colors of the floral print.
