Handcrafted by a skilled female artisan who learned her craft from her elders, this piece reflects generations of knowledge passed down within her community. Each necklace is created on commission exclusively for Pax Philomena, making it not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful and intentionally made.

The necklace features classic heishi beads, small, hand-cut discs meticulously shaped, drilled, and polished using techniques that predate silversmithing in the American Southwest. This labor-intensive process requires extraordinary patience and precision, resulting in a smooth, fluid strand that feels as beautiful as it looks. The Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo is renowned for this tradition, and each heishi necklace carries the legacy of one of the oldest jewelry-making practices in North America.

At its heart, this piece combines luminous turquoise with rich apple coral, creating a striking yet harmonious contrast. Turquoise has long been revered by Native American cultures as a sacred stone of protection, healing, and connection to the sky and water.
