Yellow cactus caftan
"It’s so comfy"

Our Prisma Indigo Maxi Kaftan is a celebration of one of India’s most enduring textile traditions—hand block printing with natural indigo, perfected over centuries in Rajasthan. This piece is created using the ancient dabu resist technique, a labor-intensive process in which artisans apply a hand-mixed mud resist to the cloth before dyeing it in natural indigo vats. The resisted areas remain untouched by the dye, revealing intricate patterns once the fabric is washed and dried under the desert sun. It is a method rooted in patience, precision, and generations of inherited knowledge—no two results are ever exactly the same.
For Jean Marie, indigo kaftans have long been among her most cherished pieces. There is something about natural indigo that transforms the cotton itself—softening it with each wear, giving it a lived-in elegance that only improves over time. The result is a fabric that feels as beautiful as it looks—light, breathable, and perfectly suited for warm days and balmy evenings.
The Prisma’s striking geometric pattern, balanced with its unexpected floral border, reflects the artistry of the hand behind it—structured yet expressive, timeless yet entirely individual. Each dress carries subtle variations, a signature of its maker, ensuring that no two are ever alike.
This is a piece designed to move effortlessly through your summer life. Worn loose over a swimsuit by the sea, it becomes the perfect cover-up; cinched and styled with sandals or paired with our solid silver tassel mala necklace, it transforms into an elegant dinner companion at your favorite coastal retreat. It is both relaxed and refined, adaptable and enduring.
By choosing this piece, you are not simply wearing a dress—you are participating in a lineage of craftsmanship and a commitment to the slow fashion movement. Hand block printing relies on human skill rather than machinery, using minimal energy and time-honored natural processes that honor both the artisan and the environment. Pieces like this are not mass produced, nor easily found. They exist in limited numbers, created with intention, and offered only here.

"It’s so comfy"
"I was unable to return this item but I would have because it is quite sheer."
"Comfortable and elegant at the same time"
"Have looked at the Nizhoni maxi for at least 2 years and finally purchased recently. It is gorgeous of course but, such a creative combination of colors. Love wearing it and paired with Pax Philomena Native American jewelry it's a showstopper. Can wear year round. Just throw on a pax boiled wool coat or kantha coat! Jean Marie Clarke is a genius when it comes to fashion."
"Love this full length caftan. Beautiful print and soft light cotton. Shipped to Canada at lightening speed."
"Thrilled to add this dress to my Pax Philomena collection. The fabric is unique, feels good to the touch. Wore it out the other day and it reminded me of a kimono. Looked great!"
"Just restocked my Pax Philomena kaftans. My first set of four took 6 years to wear out, and it was time. New prints. Same style and comfort. Chic. Classic. The best!"
"Don’t like the fabric at all. Unforgiving to the body’s curves. Also the picture shows bright blue vibrant material which it is not in reality it’s a dull blue, and looks like something you buy at a tourist street bazaar in Thailand. Would not recommend. The only thing I can say is it’s well done."
"Beautiful! Can’t wait until I can get another!"
"This stunning blue kaftan moves with you in an easy, airy flow. I wore it for over six hours to a warm summer party and was comfortable all day. Definitely recommend."
