Once mined in Arizona, this turquoise has become increasingly rare since the mine’s closure, making each piece not only beautiful, but deeply collectible. Its clarity and color evoke open skies and still desert mornings, a quiet luxury that feels both effortless and profound.
For generations, turquoise has held sacred meaning among Navajo artisans, believed to offer protection, balance, and a connection between earth and sky. The Sleeping Beauty variety, in particular, has long been treasured for its consistency and softness of tone, yet today, it is far more difficult to source, adding to its allure. Set in sterling silver and shaped into a delicate dragonfly, the design carries its own symbolism. In Navajo and many Native traditions, the dragonfly represents transformation, adaptability, and the beauty of living in the present moment.
This piece is created using the traditional technique of tufa casting, an ancient silversmithing method practiced by Navajo artisans for generations. Carved by hand into soft volcanic tufa stone, the mold gives the silver its beautifully organic texture, with subtle imperfections and depth that cannot be replicated by modern methods. Each cast is unique, bearing the imprint of the artisan’s hand and the natural stone itself, making every piece truly one of a kind.
