This print traces back to one of Jean Marie’s first journeys to India, when the vision for Pax Philomena was just beginning to take form. Walking through artisan workshops and textile markets, she came across this floral—refined yet bold, grounded yet expressive—and immediately recognized its timeless appeal. It was one of those rare moments where a pattern does not simply feel beautiful, but inevitable.

Hand block printed using a centuries-old technique, the design is created by carving each element into wooden blocks, which are then carefully stamped onto the fabric by hand. This process requires extraordinary precision and rhythm, as each color and layer must align perfectly. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, and it is this subtle variation that gives the fabric its life.
