Our Chirchiq Grey and Pink Long Cotton Ikat Tunic is a beautiful expression of earthy elegance and enduring craftsmanship. This piece traces its origins to Uzbekistan, where ikat weaving has been practiced for generations using traditional narrow looms. The process is meticulous, threads are resist-dyed before weaving, resulting in the signature blurred patterns unique to ikat. Because the looms produce very narrow strips of fabric, each garment must be thoughtfully constructed, panel by panel. This inherent limitation means we were only able to create one tunic from this textile, making it exceptionally rare and entirely one of a kind.
Jean Marie selected this fabric during one of her sourcing trips, drawn to its earthy tones and the quiet strength of its design. She often speaks about how certain textiles seem to hold a presence, and this was one of them. The interplay of green and grey felt timeless, while the delicate pink details added just enough contrast to make it feel special. It was a piece she knew instantly needed to be part of the collection, a decision guided as much by intuition as by experience.
