This necklace is crafted in the revered heishi style, one of the oldest jewelry-making techniques in North America. Each bead is hand-cut, drilled, and polished into smooth discs, then strung into fluid, graceful strands. The Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo is renowned for mastering this meticulous craft, and the result is a necklace that feels both substantial and effortlessly wearable, with a beautiful natural movement.

The contrast of materials gives this piece its powerful presence. Black jet, a deeply rich organic gemstone formed from ancient wood under pressure, has long been associated with protection, grounding, and absorbing negative energy. Its dark, lustrous surface creates a dramatic backdrop for the vivid turquoise accents. Turquoise, increasingly rare and difficult to source today, has been treasured for centuries as a sacred stone of healing, protection, and connection to sky and water.
