Our Bembridge Floral Maxi Kaftan Dress is named after the enchanting village of Bembridge on the Isle of Wight, where our founder, Jean Marie, has long spent treasured summers with her children and her father. It is a place woven deeply into her story—days spent with her aunts and uncle, who emigrated to the UK from India, gathering in gardens that feel almost fairytale in their beauty. Bembridge is a world of soft light, delicate blooms, and timeless English charm—an atmosphere that inspired the gentle floral motif seen here.

This dress is brought to life through the centuries-old art of hand block printing, a revered Indian technique passed down through generations. Each motif begins as a hand-carved wooden block, then is carefully pressed onto the fabric layer by layer. The process is meticulous and entirely done by hand, requiring extraordinary precision and patience. No two impressions are ever perfectly alike, ensuring that each dress carries its own subtle distinctions—each one a singular work.

Printed on 100% fine, lughtweight cotton voile, the fabric is breathable, soft, and ideal for warm climates and travel. The silhouette follows Pax Philomena’s signature flowing form, designed to move effortlessly with the body. A delicate adjustable drawstring waist allows for versatility—worn loose for ease or gently cinched for shape.

The rich green tone is one of Jean Marie’s personal favorites. It holds a depth that feels both grounded and luminous, and pairs beautifully with peridot and green turquoise—stones she is particularly drawn to.
